    Club Competition No. 2 - Open:

    In light of the current lockdown, the street photography competition has been shelved for now, and this will be another "Open" competition allowing members to submit images on any subject. 

    Our second club competition of the year and the theme once again is "Open". Your photograph can be on any subject you wish, in any style you like, colour or black and white.

    Points scored count towards the Photographer Of The Year competition, the outcome of which will be announced at the AGM. 

    Please see the current (amended) competition rules for information on how to size and name your images, and we also have some general tips, and advice on mounting your images.

    Entries must be submitted by email to by 23:59 hrs on Monday 29th June. In order to save problems with email size limits your images should be less than 2mb. Please do not send submissions to the newsletter email address as they may not be seen in time for submission.

    Guest Speaker - Christine Johnson:

    Christine Johnson LRPS DPAGB BPE5 is the 2019 Winner of the International Pet Photographer of the Year in the portrait category, and more recently in Feb 2020 won the British Photography Awards Pets and Domestic Animals section.

    Christine has run a pet sitting business called ICPaws since 1993, so has a good rapport and plenty of experience with a wide range of animals, and puts this affinty with animals to expert use as can be seen from her pet portraiture images where there is a clear bond between subject and photographer. 

    ‚ÄčChristine has obtained the photography qualifications of CPAGB, DPAGB, LRPS and BPE5 and continues to learn and develop new skills and techniques.

    Location Shoot - Walton Hall & Gardens:

    Club member (and current Photographer of the Year) Andy Gilbert is one of the "Friends Of Walton Gardens" and some of you will have seen his excellent documentary series on the restoration of the glasshouse at Walton Hall. Andy has a detailed and in-depth knowledge of the site and will be on hand to point out the myriad of photographic opportunities that the location can present. Please note the earlier than usual starting time at 7pm. From the car park, cross the bridge over the canal towards the entrance of the site and our meeting point will be right there after the bridge.

    There is a pay and display carpark at the site, which is free after 5pm. The address for your SatNav is Walton Lea Rd, Higher Walton, Warrington WA4 6SN
